Just the messenger - Vegas computer game wizards put the programmed stats in and just like they do each year, played the game.

Result - New England 14 Carolina 10

Panthers took a 10-7 lead on a long Steve Smith Kickoff or punt return for TD (do not remember which), but New England scored on a short run in quarter #3 to take the lead 14-10.

Kasay missed a 35 yard kick late in the third, which would have made the score 14-13. They never got back in the red zone.

Stats for both teams were modest, with plenty of punts, and not much passing yardage. There were only 2 or 3 total sacks.

--------------------------------------------

Subsequent playings (20) were mixed, but most had New England winning. On some occasions New England had trouble scoring, but there were also some blowouts. The Panthers scoring totals were more consistent; generally low, and passing numbers were generally low as well.

The same outfit played the game LY, with Tampa winning 27-10, and the underdog Bucs winning 15 of 19 subsequent playings.

----------------------------------------------

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? ALMOST NOTHING TO ME, BUT IT DOES SEEM INTERESING THAT PANTHERS MAY HAVE SOME TROUBLE PASSING ON NEW ENGLAND.

Perhaps the keys to this game will be field position, the return game, Panther ability to establish the run, and knocking QB Brady out of his comfort zone.

At -7, this game is a very tough one to 'cap. I'm just looking for an edge.

GOOD LUCK!
Rex
